KIMO Nederland en België
An introduction
In September 1999 is bij notariële acte de vereniging KIMO Nederland opgericht als onderafdeling van KIMO Internationaal. In 2002 zijn ook Belgische gemeenten lid geworden van KIMO Nederland waarna besloten is om de naam te wijzigen in KIMO Nederland en België. Van KIMO Nederland en België zijn gemeenten lid die belangen hebben op en in de noordelijke zeeën en kustwateren. Deze belangen kunnen zijn: toerisme, recreatie, visserij, natuur en industrie. Lidmaatschap van de Nederlandse KIMO-organisatie houdt automatisch lidmaatschap van de internationale KIMO-organisatie in.
29 gemeenten
Het aantal leden groeit gestaag. Verwacht wordt dat binnen vijf jaar de meeste Nederlandse en Belgische kustgemeenten lid zullen zijn van de organisatie. Thans zijn 29 gemeenten lid van KIMO Nederland en België. De KIMO-organisatie brengt de meningen en visie van de lokale overheden onder de aandacht van de nationale en internationale overheden om op deze wijze invloed uit te oefenen op de beleidsvoorbereiding en -uitvoering van veiligheids- en milieuaangelegenheden op de noordelijke zeeën en in de kustwateren. KIMO participeert in vele projecten die passen bij de doelstelling van de organisatie.
Volksvertegenwoordigers
De leden van KIMO Nederland en België zijn gekozen volksvertegenwoordigers en zullen altijd via parlementaire en democratische wegen hun doelen willen bereiken. Het bestuur van KIMO Nederland en België bestaat uit het Dagelijks Bestuur en het Algemeen Bestuur. Het DB vergadert vier keer per jaar en het AB twee keer per jaar. Ter voorbereiding van de algemene bestuursvergadering vindt een ambtelijk vooroverleg plaats van aangesloten gemeenten.
KIMO Netherlands and Belgium
An introduction
In September 1999 KIMO Netherlands was established as a national network under KIMO International. In 2002 Belgian municipalities also became members of KIMO Netherlands whereupon the network decided modify its name to KIMO Netherlands and Belgium. KIMO Netherlands and Belgium’s members are municipalities who have an interest in tourism, recreation, fishery, nature and industry in the North Sea and its coastal waters. Membership of KIMO Netherlands and Belgium also includes automatic membership of KIMO International.
29 municipalities
The number of members has been growing steadily and it is expected that within five years that most Dutch and Belgian coastal municipalities will be members of the organisation. Currently 29 municipalities are members of KIMO Netherlands and Belgium. The KIMO network brings the opinions and visions of the local municipalities to the attention of the national governments and international conventions to exert influence on policy preparation and implementation relating to marine pollution in northern seas and coastal waters. KIMO also participates in demonstrative projects, which are in line with the objectives of the organisation.
Elected Members
The members of KIMO the Netherlands and Belgium are all elected members of their local municipalities and represent the views of their constituents. The governing board of KIMO the Netherlands and Belgium consists of the daily governing board (DB) and the general governing board (GB). The DB meets four times per year and the GB two times per year. In preparation for the general board meeting an officer meeting takes place to discuss technical issues.
