The chart to the right is a record of the tonnages of marine litter landed by Scotland's fishermen during the period 2005-2008.
The graph illustrates a steady growth in participation in the period of 2005/2006. Then in the 4th quarter of 2007 nearly 25 tonnes of marine litter was landed. The final 2008 figures prove the success of the Fishing for Litter Scotland project when approximately 23 tonnes of waste was recovered from Scottish waters.
The progressive increase in litter collected over the course of the initiative is a testament to the fishermen's dedication and the organiser's enthusiasm.
